Soft/Hard 07

Concept:

In this collection, “soft” was defined as the effects of the artisanal mode of production where processes are utterly interlinked and several layers of process are often laid on top of one another to fashion a form. “Hard” defines a mode where outcomes are achieved with the minimum of processes, where process may be sequential but is not interlinked. Hard is where Chantal and Louise constructed a new vision for manufactured fashion, experimenting on the possibility of changing the size of the garments by opening or closing pleats. Craftsmanship and bespoke details were fundamental in the process. The tattooing of the leather and the handmade marking of black and white georgette and calico cloth both were elements that stressed the idea of innovating pattern cutting and sizes within a 38 - 48 size framework.
