concept title:

Shadows of an interconnected journey

Concept:

“Life is not what one lived, but what one remembers and how one remembers it in order to recount it.” This quote by Gabriel García Márquez captures the necessity to bring personal experiences and beliefs into design, to create artefacts that express unique and unalterable stories. This collection drives its primary aesthetic inspiration from the Mochila, a woven shoulder bag of the Colombian indigenous Arhuacos tribe, a culture Laura Olivella has been surrounded by since a very young age. By referencing modern architecture - Norman Foster in particular - it provides a contemporary translation of the Arhuacos iconography, which symbolises the creation of life, their cultural identity and reflects the way they think
